VAW (V7/106) is a red low intensity obstacle light used for the nighttime marking of obstacles. Consists of cast aluminium housing with threaded hub for mounting, and twin red fresnel lenses. VAW is supplied with 2 X 100 Watt extra long life, 16,000 hour life lamps.

VAW is a steady (non-flashing light that is usually switched off during daylight hours using a PE cell. Using 2 x 100 Watt lamps VAW produces an intensity in excess of 100cd, easily conforming to the requirements of MOS139.
